Water in the basement?
Start with the right assessment.
A flooded basement can involve flooring, wall cavities, insulation, and stored belongings. Southern Shield assesses the source and site conditions, then explains a plan for water removal and drying based on what is affected.

A plan built around
your property.
Describe the water and the property
Tell us whether the water followed a storm, pipe leak, appliance failure, or suspected backup. Share when it appeared, whether it is still entering, and what you can see from a safe location.
Assess access, hazards, and affected materials
Water depth alone does not define the scope. Access, utilities, structural concerns, contamination, and moisture in materials all matter. Water removal needs to be planned around those conditions rather than assuming every basement can be pumped out the same way.
Track drying beyond the visible surface
After appropriate water removal, retained materials may still hold moisture. We discuss drying equipment, monitoring, and material removal where necessary. Progress is assessed from the conditions and measurements, not a universal number of days.
What the service
may include.
Actual work depends on the assessed conditions, access, and written scope. Mitigation and remediation are our primary services; any repairs are separately scoped and authorized.
- ✓Assessment of the source, access, and affected areas
- ✓Water extraction when site conditions permit
- ✓Moisture checks of accessible affected materials
- ✓Structural drying and dehumidification as appropriate
- ✓Documentation and a clearly defined cleanup estimate
Clear expectations
before you proceed.
Stay out of standing water where electrical or structural hazards may be present. Avoid contact with floodwater or suspected sewage. Tell our team about hazards and follow any emergency access restrictions.
Your questions.
Clear answers.
Is basement water always clean water?
No. The source and site conditions must be considered. Tell us if sewage is suspected, if the water came from outside, or if it has contacted other contaminants. We assess the appropriate approach before work is agreed.
Does the service include waterproofing or fixing the leak?
Water removal and drying do not automatically include drainage, foundation, plumbing, or sump-pump repairs. The source may require a separate trade. Ask which items are included in the written estimate.
How long will drying take?
The answer depends on affected materials, access, moisture levels, and site conditions. After assessment, we explain the proposed steps and update you as drying progresses. We do not promise one fixed drying time for every property.
